Homestay Programme
Birmingham International Airport is just 45 minutes travel, we meet all accepted students at regional and London airports (Heathrow is two hours journey) and take them to their host family.
Although non-boarding, HTIS operates the ‘Homestay Programme’ for visiting international students who stay with Homestay Programme host families from between 1 and 3 terms, helping accelerate English learning and the understanding of wider social, economic, history and culture to support exchange student studies.
The Programme also has positive language benefits for HTIS lessons with senior AS and A level language students able to converse and listen to colloquial accents and pronunciations, directly aiding their studies, and AS classes benefit from the translation of technical vocabulary, enabling all students to gain practical experience of both dialect and language.
Internationalism
HTIS students benefit from our wide ranging international connections, with curriculum activities, virtual interaction and exchange programmes offering further breadth to an essentially ‘family school’ where personal progress is as important as academic achievement.
Attributed as having the best ‘value added’ in the county, we hold the belief that education is about student realisation of personal potential, active participants rather than passive recipients in their education.
