Opportunities for Overseas students to study at HTIS

An exchange or term’s visit to a British School offers far more than an outstanding academic experience, as a host of leading Boarding Schools would testify. It is an opportunity to study what is generally regarded as one of the more academic curricula in the world, to be able to gain a deep  understanding of your favourite subjects, whether they are Sciences, Languages or more creative subjects; gain independence and intellectual maturity, and of course discover the rich culture of the British Isles. Why study in our school when there are many famous and prestigious Boarding schools both in the region and nationally? Interestingly, we can not accept many applications as we do not have a Boarding House! We believe that a far greater experience is gained from living with a trusted, CRB tested and caring family, who will treat each visitor as literally one of the family.

Visitors will immerse themselves into the family’s routines, travel with them at weekends and holidays and therefore gain the full experience of British life. They have to practise the new language, learn to integrate and not  “hide” in the Boarding House and will be nurtured in return. So we believe in “small is beautiful” and by choice prefer to offer a wonderful experience to a select few visitors, rather than trying to increase school numbers by a large number of overseas visitors; where total integration might be more difficult and the learning experience for all, lessened.

Our subject range is similar to most Secondary Schools, but we do feel that our small class sizes in 6th form are a great bonus, along with specialist 6th form suite of rooms and relaxed yet focussed environment. This leads to excellent AS and A level results, high “value added” and the opportunity to interact one to one with teachers, ask when unsure, and receive what is close to individualised study programmes within an overall Learning Environment.

Sixth Form facilities include: Bistro area, kitchen, lounge, locker rooms, private study rooms, teaching rooms, Art Laboratory, 6th form computer room, audio visual projection and meeting room, and small music rooms.

Further information about 6th form options can be obtained from the Director of Admissions or the Head of 6th form Mr. Andy White, awhite@holytrinity.co.uk, or by telephoning 01562 822929.
