Independent Day School and Nursery for Boys and Girls from 0 to 18

ISP Programme

The ISP Programme at Holy Trinity International School

ISP stands for “International Study Programme”, and befitting an International School, HTIS allows students to participate in activities and residential study with our IES and SEK sister schools and of course, allows students to visit us and study at HTIS for an academic session.

All IES students have the opportunity to compete in the annual “InterSEK” event, which alternates between a sporting encounter and cultural  competition and awareness. In May 2008, students from all the IES and SEK schools met in Santiago, Chile, to enjoy Football, Swimming, Athletics, Volleyball and Basketball competitions, in addition to cultural excursions in the local area. They stayed with Chilean families and so were able to practice their Spanish and find out more about the Chilean way of life.

Study Opportunities abroad

HTIS students can travel to any IES school, but the most common location is Boca Raton, in South Florida. Students can travel at any time of the year  from August until the end of May and either stay with school families or if space allows, in the Evert Tennis Dormitory across the road. Many Evert tennis students go to school at Boca Prep, and former students include Wimbledon and international stars, Andy Roddick, Mardy Fish and Jesse Levine.

During their stay at Boca Prep, which generally lasts between 5 and 10 weeks; students engage in the IB’s Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme during the day, ensuring a high standard of education. Grades awarded in Boca Prep are then transferred to the UK and take the place of normal subject grades – in that way there is no loss of grades or assessment records.

At weekends, students are taken on a variety of supervised activities from visiting the Everglades and local beaches to excursions to Orlando (3 hours), Miami (1 hour) and to snorkel in the coral reefs of the John Pennecamp State Park in the Florida Keys (2 hours away). Typical Boca Prep classes at MYP (British year 7 to 11 inclusive) include Forensic Science, Marine Biology, Art and Design, a variety of modern languages including Arabic, Italian, Japanese and Spanish; and the logical Humanities and Maths classes. It’s a great experience and a tremendous investment for the future. Below, photograph of John Pennecamp State Park.

The IES Programme Coordinator at Boca Prep, will be able to assist with all student visa, insurance and travel details in the USA. Students are picked up at the incoming airport and escorted to the very door of the plane when departing.

For further details please speak with the Head, Mrs Pamela Leek-Wright or her PA, Mrs Karen Roth.
