Residential Educational Visits
HTIS students have the opportunity to undertake numerous residential and educational visits from Nursery through to Sixth Form. Locally, regionally and nationally, students are able to support their studies visiting places of physical and educational interest, taking part in residential activity camps and visiting towns and cities such as London, Birmingham and spending-Upon-Avon to immerse in historical, dramatic and geographic facts and data to extend their overall learning experience and subject understanding.
Creative Arts Department
The Creative Arts department at HTIS is a vibrant, lively environment where pupils of all abilities can reach their true artistic potential.
The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming with many of our students spending much of their free time here, either continuing class work or developing their own 'works of art'.
We offer a wide range of disciplines within the creative arts, which are taught through skill based projects in Key Stage 3 (KS3).
These include:
Fashion and Textile Design
Surface Pattern and Graphic Design
Print and Mixed Media Techniques
Digital Photography
3D Construction
Clay Work
Traditional Fine Art Techniques
Projects enable pupils to develop their imaginative skills alongside the introduction and use of new, exciting materials and techniques, whilst investigating how artists across the centuries and in other cultures have used art to convey ideas and meaning.
In Key Stage 4 (KS4) students work independently on projects of their choice, using innovative techniques and specialist materials. They are guided towards challenging outcomes, which will exhibit their most successful skill area.
In Key Stage 5 (KS5) HTIS students develop further with intellectually challenging design briefs, which allow their artistic minds to flourish.
Across all key stages we encourage the development of bright, textural sketchbooks. These allow students a space for personal response, research and investigation into the area of the arts we are studying. Independent experimentation is encouraged and highly valued.
HTIS student work has a high profile around the building and is displayed with care throughout the school. We are proud of the success and quality achieved by all.
When you do come and visit HTIS, please do feel free to visit the Creative Arts Department and look around. You will be made very welcome.
